By this point in the tournament, it seemed like every ace was getting raised and it felt like there was lots of stealing going on. So I put on my Hold'em hat and tried to run off the stealer by pushing back. Is this anything remotely resembling a smart idea? I tried for two streets, but the cards wouldn't cooperate, so I gave up.

You played this hand poorly. A better way to play it would be to call third. No reason to bloat the pot since you're probably not a big favorite over his range of hands anyway. Folding is not terrible if the raiser is very tight, but you said that wasn't the case, so you should call.
