The Wynn kicks ass... stay there over Mirage every day of the week. The Bellagio, as Bob said, just has better selection. But the Wynn room and staff is much, much nicer.

I think half the reason the $15/30's were so bad was that it was usually 40-50% 2+2ers.

I'm in the same camp as PokerBob -- stayed at the Wynn but played the minimum req'd hrs there and played the rest at Bellagio. while I prefer the physical room AND staff AND waitresses at the Wynn, the games at the Bellagio are SO much better that I'll be going back to the Bellagio after my recent stay at the Wynn.

I play 15 & 30 HE and the game selection at the Bellagio is beyond comparison - weak competition (often at least 2 complete fish per table, if not more) and several tables to choose from even at off-peak hours. The staff and drink service leave much to be desired but overall Bellagio is +EV

Thanks for the additional help, fellas, if anything this thread has put me off the desire to spend any real time at the Wynn (although I will give it a go for a session or two) and, perhaps, I'll get over my anti-Bellagio (mind you, I have absolutely no reason to dislike it there, other than some vague ... I don't know what) attitude as well.

But I sense I'm staying at the Mirage with at least a trip to the Wynn and maybe a lot of trips to Bellagio.

Invariably it will come down to how tired I am after my convention and how much I just feel like spending the week drinking it up and therefore just playing some low stakes $6-$12 or $10-$20 where drinking is +EV as everyone thinks it effects your game, not knowing the s3cr3t t3ch (of which there is none).

Moving along... and thanks again!

Hi Barron:

They are close enough that you can walk from one to the other. So I wouldn't make your decisions just on poker.

Best wishes,
Mason

The Wynn has the best buffet in Vegas, and comps are easy to get. Free milkshakes in the rooms, and I've always destroyed the NLHE cash games and the 10-20 half-kill Omaha 8/b limit game there.

The Wynn is hands-down the best place to play/stay in Vegas, IMO.

I stayed and played at the Mirage last month. I really liked the poker room - though it had less to do with the actual room than with its location. The Wynn room is in a hallway, somewhat removed from the main casino floor - and if you need a bathroom, you have to go out and around the corner.

At the Mirage, on one side is a bathroom, right next to the poker room - and on the other side are tables and a bar - so if you want a break, you can step out to the table and relax, while remaining close to the action.

The room at the Wynn looked fantastic though.

Part of the issue, I am sure, is that the Wynn is so new - I would say give it a year and re-assess. But personally, I found nothing to complain about at the Mirage as far as the card room...

...the hotel room, on the other hand...I had one major complaint - and that is that the doors slam really loud - and so when you are trying to get your few hours of Zs, it can be really disruptive. However, the rooms there are generally MUCH cheaper - so if that is a factor and you bring some earplugs, then go for it.

I think the rooms at the Wynn are MUCH nice than the Bellagio.

I don't know, Mason, leaving a poker room late at night I'd have to see if anyone is out there playing the let's-mug-the-6'7"-tourist game ... so that would be one more thing to be worried about drunkenly* staggering back to my room.

*hopes that laying all this drinking groundwork pays off dividends when random 2+2'ers are against me and insist on calling me down with Ace high.

That area of the strip is very safe and it's like an 8 minute walk between the two. I've done it a number of times...don't think you have any worries.
