KQ in bb hand
opponent is tight, moderately aggressive, and fairly logical. he has been reraising my blind steals fairly often, so i assume he is also somewhat observant. he has shown no evidence of extreme creativity.
game is 6 handed 15/30 online. hero is in BB with K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] MP1 raises, folded to hero. hero calls. flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] hero checks (expecting to check-raise), MP1 pauses for 10 sec and bets. hero calls. turn: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] hero checks. MP1 again pauses and then bets. hero calls. river: T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] hero bets. MP1 raises, hero folds. feel free to comment- I'm specifically interested in what others think my best line on the river would be: check-call, bet-fold, or bet-call? |

Re: KQ in bb hand
what happened to the c/r on the flop?
if you get 3-bet cant you just check/fold the turn? 2sb preflop 1sb flop 1bb turn 1bb river thats 3.5 bb hoping to catch, what, a K? or 2sb preflop 3sb flop fold turn 2.5 BB and you can feel nice and beat, and save $30. Also I dont think the bet on the end is going to get him to fold any hand that you beat unless he is weak tight which hes not. I suck at poker though so this is probably all wrong. |

Re: KQ in bb hand
So, you didn't check raise the flop b/c this guy paused for ten seconds?

[ QUOTE ]
if you get 3-bet cant you just check/fold the turn? [/ QUOTE ] no. he could easily have AK or AJ. Also I check-raise as a bluff often enough where I do get bluffed back at relatively often. thus it would be very difficult for me to fold this hand to a 3bet on the flop. i definitely have odds to call down at this point- but do i want to value raise? MP1s long pause tells me that it's probable I am beat. obviously I don't want to raise when I am beat and drawing. If he is semi-bluffing, it would be best to raise. If he has a relatively weak, drawless hand, raising may be slightly better than calling- but it's fairly close. so i had to decide which scenario to weight most heavily. His long pause caused me to put the most weight on his being ahead. the turn is a blank- same situation as flop. the river is a scare card for him. I can value bet here, knowing that he will probably call with any pair, whether it beats me or not, and he might call with Ace high. when he raises i think i can safely fold. if i would've check-called: he likely would check behind with a worse pair. He would certainly bet any hand that had me beat- except he might rarely check AQ. With AK or AJ he might do either. I thought my line was right, but I'm not sure. I'd like to hear some more people's opinions: especially people who play in a lot of aggressive shorthanded games. |

Re: KQ in bb hand
you played this way to passive. you need to check raise here on the flop and lead into him on the turn as long as he doesn't come back over the top on the flop. looks like you're making the mistake of acting weak when you're strong and vise versa.
