if you trust your read this looks fine. put pot size in bets, not $s

this is a valid point. my thinking was that he would check/call with a king, a draw, and maybe a nine, and fold everything else. he usually check-folds the flop in this situation so i know that he has something.

do you really think its worth betting queens here? if he just has a nine i am fairly confident that he will check/call the river. if he misses a draw i am fairly confident that he will check/fold the river. if he has a king, and obviously if he hits his draw, its probably bet/call the river.

do i gain enough from draws and 9s to make betting the turn worthwhile?

and how often do they bet out on the river to make sure it isn't checked behind?

if you're going to check behind, i'd rather do it on the river for a free showdown and give yourself a chance to win the pot on the turn.

thanks to your check on the turn, the number of hands villain will be betting out on this river with increases.

i don't necessarily think that this line meant our hero was behind... but he gave himself no chance to win this pot after the flop, when he may have been ahead. i think it's probably worth one more bet, and i'd rather put it in on the turn...

As a side note, I'm totally open to hearing why this line is incorrect.

note: upon further reflection- i think any mid PP pretty much fits opponents line here too.

it's another reason to bet the turn. i'm still not sure what I would do if I had this hand over again. i'd probably flip a coin and do whichever i felt like. i think it's pretty close either way. with this specific opponent, i'm happy with what I did. I am enjoying the responses.

If the guy really is a loose passive, certainly he's calling this flop with most pairs and most draws. Hence you should bet the turn and probably the river as well.

loose-passive was meant as a relative term here. this guy is probably about 35% preflop, and fairly tight-passive post-flop. basically, he is too loose with calling standards in early position, and calls out of the blinds too much. this qualifies him as a loose-passive in my book. he's not retarded though, and he may actually fold too much post-flop when shorthanded.

What do you think he would do with gutshot hands on the flop and turn- JT and QJ and QT?
