I've seen people intentionally lose just so they were done playing before. I think it has to do with some sort of depression / fatalism and the need to be punished or something, wtf do i know? I'm sure up the river bet he was trying to do whatever it is morons do, but this call on the river was the "oh man I feel so dumb" then call so he can either win with a miracle and feel great or lose and be punished for being dumb.
