Default Re: River stuff...

I cannot but agree.

I don't think most stats are indicative of good or bad play(save maybe VPIP and PFR). However I do think that when something is totally out of whack maybe you should look there for a leak.

This may not be a leak at all. In most hands I'm in I'm generally being the aggressor. This issue may be an artifact of that general situation. For example, I'm the agressor through most of the hand and when they donk me on the river and I can't think but they have to have something(most 1/2's are passive). Maybe I'm playing my draws too agressively. This is merely a first crack at figuring out if there may be a problem. I'm playing 1/2, if i knew this stuff already, I wouldn't be there. Its all a learning experience.

Thanks,
J

what i am trying to tell you is you should put effort into understanding how certain opponents play on the river.

do they ever bluff?

when they bet is it only for value?

do they value bet too much (for example aj unimproved)?

river tendencies are pretty easy to pick up on in a hu or sh situation. pay attention but always err on the side of the pot as well.
