sit n go strategy

I play in 10 and 20 dollar sit n go's as a way to try and build my account. I have noticed that there are times when I can money in 10 or more tournaments in a row, but then I finish out of the money several times in a row after that. Does anyone else experience these "streaks" of good and bad finishes? I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how i could fix this problem and be more successful. another question i had was what hands should you play early on in a sit n' go. I usually only play the top ten hands early on and then gradually loosen up later. is that right? any help will be appreciated thanks.

You are experiencing what is called "variance". There is a post in the FAQ stickied at the top of this forum regarding it. You really need to play lots of SNG's (1k+) to really see what your true profit is for these tournaments.

As for starting hands, it depends which site you play on. The PP structure has low starting chips/blind ratio, while the PS ratio is high, so it all depends. Sounds like you have a good idea of starting hands, although make sure you dont lose so many chips to blinds that any move you make is insignificant. Most players go into "All in or fold mode" when their stack is less than 10x the Big Blind.
