Default Best place to stay in Vegas for the WSOP? Where are other 2+2\'ers?

Going to make my arrangements in the next week or two... where is everyone else planning on staying? Where is a good spot to stay expense wise? Location wise? Etc, etc? I'd like to meet up with some 2+2'ers when I am there too.

Which events are you planning on playing? Will you be there for the entire WSOP? I'm going to be there at the end of June. Might stay at Binions, they had a pretty good deal going last time I checked.

If you are driving, then you can stay at some of the "station" (Boulder,Texas etc.) properties and save a lot of money. Rio, Harrah's etc. are charging about $225/night. Last year, Binion's was $40 for WSOP players.

Since most of the tournament will be at the Rio, that car is important. If you fly to Vegas, staying downtown and catching a cab both ways is expensive and the bus, while cheap, is a pain. It would even be cheaper and easier to fly in and stay at a cheap outlying casino and rent a car.

The Orleans and Gold Coast are close. Gold Coast is just down the street and the Orleans has a free shuttle to the Gold Coast. I'm staying 8 days at the Orleans for $700 and the same at the GC for a little more.

Well I will be flying in from Massachusetts and would love to not have to rent a car if I didn't need to. I may only be there for the main event although I am working out the details for getting staked in a few of the smaller events so I may be there longer. How would I work out the lowered fee @ binions if I am in the main event? If I reserved it now, before paying to enter the tourney can I get the reduced rate after the fact? Anyone know these things or should I just call them? Thanks in advance for the insight.

P.S. Wasn't the idea floating about a bunch of 2+2'ers subletting a house for the WSOP?

i didn't see anything about the house but that would be an interesting idea.

You might want to try in the B&M or even the WPT forums (or General I suppose).

I believe it was in B&M forum that I happened to read that many of the hotels are really jacking up their rates during the WSOP to the $200-$250 range or something.

If you try to get a $1k-$2k stake for your $10k entry you might just want to put that towards your expenses because it looks like you will either be paying a premium rate to stay close and not rent a car....
or will be paying less for a hotel further away where you will have to pay hotel or cab costs.

Note - I don't know my way around Vegas in the least.
Just some general suggestions from someone who once passed through in 1995 (jesus...that was a freaking decade ago).

Thanks micro, helpful as always. x-posted it in the b&m forum right now for 7 days 6 nights I got quoted at the rio for $1,532.89 for 2 adults, with roundtrip airfare included. I am thinking of only reserving the first 4 days or so and making the change if I last longer, because I would likely be in the money at the point anyway. Any thoughts?

i was tyring to put something together, but in order to get an available house, we had to commit somewhat early, and there werent enough of us willing to spend a month in vegas. Which disappoints me really...
