Default Reads reads reads

Some questions about old fashioned non-number reads...

How much do you estimate that the reads you make contribure to your win rate in BB/100 hands?

What techniques do you use to collect reads?
ex.
Look only at hands you play against Villain at the table?
Look at hand histories?
Look at hands you've played against Villain in PT?
...

Do you pay extra attention to taking reads on regulars? (ex. PT help)

Also how many tables do you play?

thanks!

I typically 3-table, sometimes 2, sometimes 4.

I virtually never go through my PTdb and look at mined hands I have on regulars. Notes I make come from games I'm actually sitting in, and the following are always noted:
any lrr
any donk
any bad raise OOP (stuff like raising any Kxs UTG)

In a post from quite some time ago, Nate (I think it was Nate, at least; might have been Ulysses) said that keeping notes on postflop play was much more important. I agree, although I still keep track of the really odd pf plays. Aside from donking, something that I like to get a good handle on is how they play draws and big flopped hands (sets usually). In that same vein, if they use the free card play or flop c/c turn donk/3bet, I make a mental note of it, and if I notice them doing it a couple more times I write the note down.

As for estimating how much it adds to my wr, I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Yeah, I know it's a question that can only be answered with very very approximate answers.

What lead my to ask about reads is that a good 20/40 player from this forum said reads contribute a substantial part of his profits, probably more than half of them. That it is one of the most under-estimated parts of poker on the net.

I wanted to hear what other people feel about reads?
I'm thinking I need to improve in that area.

I almost exclusively 4-table and I take a ton of notes. I am as specific as possible. An example might be:

"CR a T42 all club flop HU vs a pfr w 33 no club then called a turn r and a riv bet even tho an A hit the turn"

I of course take more general ones also like:

"autobet when ch to HU", "has never folded in his life", "routinely gaybets the turn w zero", "bluff raiser", "bluff checkraiser", "cap him pf and show it down!", "put him on random cards", and "completely disregard his bets and raises"

Then there are the general labels:
"monkey", "big monkey", "huge monkey", "massive monkey", "hall of fame monkey", and "world record monkey".

I don't know exactly what my notes are worth, but it feels like a lot.

I go by "buddy," and capitalize a letter for every increasing degree of buddyness. so a "buddy" is a dumb guy who sucks, and a BUDDY is a complete maniac/callin staion retard, and a BUDdy is something in between.

Abbreviations are key.

wrt reads and wr, it depends a ton on the level you're playing. Reads aren't real important at 1/2.
