If I am villan here, I am freqeuntly check/calling the river with AK/AQ to induce a bluff from busted overcards/flush draw. My point is that sometimes calling the turn (well, at least against me anyway) can get you a free showdown. So I'm not convinced that the oft-repeated logic of "if you call turn you must call river, so fold turn" necessarily always applies. I have my suspicions that this comment is an over-used cliche (ala Clarkmeister-theorem).

I agree with this. Like others said, when I call the flop I induce a bet on the turn. When I call this bet, he is not going to bet again on the river without a high PP
