[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Am I the only one who finds this game really hard to play shorthanded? [/ QUOTE ] I prefer playing this game HU. Knowing where you are is much easier and it's more fun because you can play a lot more hands. Keep in mind that hands such as trips and straight increase in value (although I will still chuck a straight on the flop against an aggressive opponent). [/ QUOTE ] Straights are worthless. [/ QUOTE ] Straights are worthless multiway, but I think they can have marginal showdown value when you're playing HU if there hasn't been much agression earlier on. It's really dependent on what kind of hands your opponent will show down. |

Re: Royal LHE on Ub
The only flush you can make is a royal flush right? Don't avoid that. I was playing LL Royal HE for fun. Didn't realize until 45 hands into it that it was Royal HE. I was like, "OMG I have not been delt a not face card for like 4 orbits of the game" Needless to say I was rasing almost every hand and only about at break even for the 45 hands. Everyone must have thought I was a crazy.

Re: Royal LHE on Ub
The river c/r in Hand #1 was pretty bad IMO. Should've looked to bet/3-bet against a Q.

Re: Royal LHE on Ub
After some time playing this game and doing simulations on Poker Stove, I have further confirmed that a having a straight with no room for improvement really is a bad hand. BUT, it is a good back up hand if things don't work out after the river card depending if there was a raise pre flop or not and peoples table image to make a judgement. Also if you are late position and have A,K and it's capped, you may want to fold. There is a good chance your opponents have the same cards and thus the "donk" cold calling with his Q,10 might be good. Likewise if your early position with A,K you might want to limp. This will be decieving and you can see who does what before the flop. You can be more passive in this game than the regular one where protecting your hand is more important. It still amazes me even the people who do understand they are at a Royal table continue to think a straight is good and see the flop 100% unless raised, maybe. My flop % varies anywhere from 35-55.

Re: Royal LHE on Ub
One more thing, if you get 3 pair which will be after the turn, check/fold. You won't hit a boat 9 out of 10 times and if you miss you won't even have a straight.
