Default Los Angeles Hotels

I had such a good time in Vegas visiting all the poker rooms. I decided to do the same with LA. I'm gonna do the 6-7 poker rooms in the LA area for Labor Day weekend.

Can anyone recommend a cheap, safe hotel that is close to either the Bike or Commerce?

On that note, I found thrifty to be a really cost effective rental, much cheaper than avis/hertz. Anyone know of any better?

Checkout pokeroi.com for a listing of every poker room in the US.

Thanks

How cheap do you need? Crowne Plaza at Commerce was pretty nice and obviously very close to the action. 89 a night player's rate (ask the floorman for it, it's 99 a night without - at least when I stayed, which was over a weekend). Commerce is down the street from Bike also.

Thanks. Well, I plan to use the hotel just for sleeping and a quick cleanup. I thought maybe I could get it down to $60 a day.

The hotel across the street from the Commerce isn't bad if you just want a place to sleep. It is definately a no frills kind of place though. Around 50-60 a night

Crystal park in compton is the best! jk... um.. commerce is pretty nice....Bell Gardens is a bad area... I only go there once in a while when they have tournaments...thats it... Try southbay or Long Beach. Long Beach is 15 Mins away from all the Major casinos in LA...Hawaiian Gardens, Hustler, CC and Bike.

This came up on hotels.com. Probably do it since no one has said the neighbor is bad. I don't want to stay near LAX since it's about 1/2 hour from Commerce.

I would not stay anywhere near the Commerce or Bicycle unless it is at the hotel at the Commerce. Those are pretty dodgy areas of the city. You will not want to be walking around there.

The area specifically around commerce isn't that bad. There's basically just a lot of businesses there. Like the citadel mall, for example.

For $60 or less a nite, I would rent a car and find a motel 6 located in a nicer area like Torrance. I know there is a Motel 6 that is ok in Rosemead, right next to the 60 fwy. I grew up there so I know there ain't jack to do near there. There is a Charlie Browns restraunt, a Carrows restraunt, a Jack in the Box, a McDonalds, and the Montebello town Center nearby(a large shopping center). It's a almost 100% Asian and Latino neighborhood, but relatively safe. The motel is safe. For sept 2-8 it is $60 for three of the nights and $46 for the other three. It is about 10-15 minute drive to Commerce, 20 minute drive to Bike, and 30 minute drive to Hustler or Hollywood Park. Traffic will increase drive times by double.

For the price, you should really consider staying at the Commerce.
