[ QUOTE ]
I agree with Dali. A bluff that someone didn't want to call to the point of intentinally disconnecting couldn't have been that bad, since it most likely wouldn't have been called otherwise.

[/ QUOTE ]

I disagree. This jerkoff disconnected because it was a close call and he wanted to play for a smaller pot. If someone puts a gun to his head, he calls this river bet.

Moreover, even if he would have folded, it doesn't make this a good bluff unless Dali had some kind of hellacious read that this guy was a total candy ass.

I'm not arguing that he plays great, and don't really have an opinion on the "general situation". I'm just saying that if such a bet had not been called, and all indications from the disconnect are that it would not have been, then it would have been correct even if the specific amount was not right. Moves that don't work always look dumb to others, especially if they are habitually done in the wrong situation. But this move "looks right" since his cheating opponent didn't actually have the stones to call.

you think the 275 on the river is a good bet?

also i was commenting on a general theme, dali gets bad beated/unlucky, posts hand and complains how unfair the world is, and then people comment on how badly he played.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, closer examination will show you that I am merely trying to alert people to a cheater that plays a LOT of 3-6 NL. I get DP'd on about once a week, but this is the first time ever in a pot this big.

Also, the reason I bet 275 was purposefully low; often in these games, a "milky" looking bet has a MUCH better chance of taking down the pot than a bet that can possibly be construed as trying to push someone out of the pot. I can't TELL you how often I see someone bet 1/4 to 1/2 the pot on the river with the nuts. I don;t always bet it in this fashion on the river, but it seemed like the right thing versus this player, how has shown previously a reticence to call milkish looking bets, ESPECIALLY when a draw hits. Most players I don't play this way, but This player i felt was pretty controllable.

Course, strassa and wolfy know better, since they obviously know every tendency my opponent has, plus how he plays versus me, and therefore can skillfully ascertain the proper play....

I don't understand why you are so certain that he would have folded. The fact that he disconnected does not mean that folding was the only other option that he was considering. Put it this way, if disconnecting was totally legit, would you do it only in situations where you otherwise would have folded?

If this is the way you feel, then next time you should just say that Mr. X disconnected when you had him by the nads. Don't post any other details about the hand. That way we can all avoid distracting comments about the actual play of the hand.

Whether I had the best hand or not doesn't matter, and neither should the play of the hand. And I'm not going to lie.

Put it this way, if disconnecting was totally legit, would you do it only in situations where you otherwise would have folded?

Surely you realize this is a stupid question since the answer is so obvious.
