Why are there 6-player max tables?
The subject line is my question. Who likes/dislikes them? Why?

Re: Why are there 6-player max tables?
I hate them because you are UTG or the blinds 50% of the time. The swings also suck. Others like them because with less SH material out there, good players have a greater edge and there are more bad players to profit from

Re: Why are there 6-player max tables?
People like them because they can play more hands and make more decisions than their opponents, thus giving the better player more of an advantage.
And it's just more fun to click the raise button. |

Re: Why are there 6-player max tables?
Here is a better question: Why are there 10 max tables?

Well, that is *another* question. Better? Whatever. 10 player tables certainly are the standard in hold 'em. Agreed? I suppose what I'm trying to glean from any resposes are things such as the following. Who would most like to see short-handed tables available - the house, or the players? What types of players prefer them? What playing styles do these tables reward, punish? |

Re: Why are there 6-player max tables?
In some ways 6 max should be to my advantage since A. i don't multitable, and B. the foundation of my strategy is playing my opponent, studying their every move.
But i don't play SH because i don't play a high enough stakes that would give bluffing +EV. On top of that, i like a game where i can sit back and carefully plan my moves. and i don't like big swings. My best table is a calm passive table, one that allows me to be the aggressor. But i think it also depends on whether you play limit or NL, if i were playing limit i think i would prefer SH. Although that's only if i were playing one table, if i were to play limit, i would most likely multitable it. And i'll quit rambeling on because my opinion really isn't worth much. |
