A book for hold\'em odds?
I'm trying to get a better grip on the math behind poker in order to improve my decision making. I do have a decent grip on the basics, but not enough experience yet to really make this benefit from game in the heat of battle....I need a pencil and paper and 10 minutes
Anyway, I'm seeing basically 2 books online on the topic: 1. Texas Hold'em Odds by Catalin Barboianu - there's an adobe version for $12.95 2. Hold Em Odds by Mike Petriv - this thing is $39.99 I'm not great at math and never had anything more than Algebra; although I did have a stats glad in grad work. Is anyone familiar with either of these? Which would you recommend? Is there a different book that you recommend? |

Re: A book for hold\'em odds?
I've never read those books, but Mike Caro's website has a pretty good odds section:

Re: A book for hold\'em odds?
There's a book that might be interesting for you:
"Weighing the Odds in Hold'em Poker by King Yao" Here's a link: http://bj21.com/ads/weighing_the_odds/ad.html I can't make a reccomendation right now as I haven't read it. It will be out end of April. But I've ordered it and will most probably write a report as soon as I finished it. But if you follow the link he provides a sample chapter. As far as I know King Yao posts here at 2+2 also but I can't recall recent posts. Shadow |

Re: A book for hold\'em odds?
I bought both and would say Petriv's is better in it's format and writing.
