Default Playing multiple tables

I wonder if playing multiple tables on a regular basis is a real leak/impediment to development for some of the posters on this board. I know that it was for me. I never really learned to beat the bigger games until I quit trying to do three things at once. I still multitable occasionally, but I am trying to eliminate it entirely since I don't rely on poker to pay the bills. Anyone else have this experience?

i do worse when i don't multitable because i loosen up preflop from getting bored... i need to be playing at least 4 or seriously multitasking in other ways to play optimally preflop.

I had a bad spell at 5/10 and 10/20, bigger games than what I'd been playing. Dropping down to 1-2 tables instead of my usual 3-4 made what seemed to be a big difference.
