Default Re: AFI\'s 100 greatest movie quotes

Some of these lines are rip-offs, so they won't work -- like the Conan one. There are some good ones up there, and the AFI site has some real lame ones too.

"I'll think about it tomorrow" and "Frankly, Scarlett, I don't give a damn" are ones from Gone with the Wind; at least one of those is guaranteed to be included. Women always screech and swoon when they hear Rhett Butler's other line, though: "You look good enough to eat!"

There was one from North by Northwest that went something like, "CIA, FBI, it doesn't matter. We're all in the same alphabet soup."

"Even a man who is pure at heart
And says his prayers by night
Will become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms
And the autumn moon is bright"

Maria Ouspenskaya in "The Wolfman"

"Ah, the children of the night! What sweet music they make!" Lugosi as Dracula

"You think I'm a clown? I'm a clown to you?" or something like that, from Goodfellas

"Talk? No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!" Auric G. in Goldfinger

I kill a communist for fun, but for a green card, I gonna carve him up real nice.

Is this it? That's what it's all about, Manny? Eating, drinking, f***ing, sucking? Snorting?

[ QUOTE ]
"I'm an American, honey. Our names don't mean [censored]."

[/ QUOTE ] Sounds familiar, what's it from?

Off the top of my head:

Go ahead--make my day!

If you ever shoot me in a DREAM, you'd better wake up and apologize!

Show me the money! (I hate this line, but give it its due.)

To my big brother George: the richest man in town!

That's not a knife. THAT'S a knife!

What we're dealing with here is a failure to communicate.

Houston, we have a problem.

Rambo! DON'T!!!

They're heeeeeeeeeeere!

Don't say a word, Sidney. Don't say a fukcing word. I'll get up, I'll bury this telephone in your head.

(Sorry about that last one, I couldn't help myself.)

I would be very disappointed if Michelle Phiefer's (sp?) line from Scarface isn't included (as she lies be the pool getting her toenails painted and snorting massive quantities of coke):

"Nothing exceeds like excess"

~ Rick

Jeez. There have been a few omissions, to say the least.

"The horror. The horror."-- Apocalypse Now
"You're dead, son. Get yourself buried."-- The Sweet Smell of Success
"I could have been somebody. I could have been a contender."-- On The Waterfront
"Rosebud."-- Citizen Kane
"Let's F*ck! I'll f*ck anything that moves!"-- Blue Velvet
"Someday a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets."-- Taxi Driver
"Don't call me Shirley."-- Airplane
"George and Martha. Sad, sad, sad." Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
"It goes to eleven."-- (This is) Spinal Tap

So many more.

What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Say hello to my little friend.

You talkin to me?

Man's got to know his limitations.

Go ahead, make my day.

The new phone book's here! The new phone book's here!

It's good to be the king.

...just a few off the top of my head

The odd couple quote on the list was fantastic. I haven't watched that in SO long, I didn't remember the line:

I cannot stand little notes on my pillow. "We are all out of cornflakes, F.U." It took me three hours to figure out that F.U. was Felix Unger.

Great line
