Default foding set of 10\'s

early stages of the tourney. this is my first hand i've played so I guess I look conservative to the other players.
I raise from early position with a pair of 10's and get reraised from a player in late position( that has me covered). I'm suspecting a higher pair, but the pot odds commit me to call (1-4.6).
the flop comes (10 Q 6) giving me a set. (lets ignore the flush possibilities).
now only a pair of queens beats me.
I bet small to show as if it's a probe bet, and get called. (now I'm realy suspicious).
the turn is K (now a pair of kings beats me as well).
what now?
example below (i'm dedor)

I wouldn't worry about someone having a higher set, especially KK on the turn. If he has KK, he probably is raising on the flop. AJ is unlikely, because I don't think you get reraised pre-flop. AK, AA, JJ, QQ or PP less than TT is possible too and only one of those beats my hand. If he's lucky enough to have QQ, he's getting my money.

First, you can't assume your opponent is on AA-JJ. The range is surely bigger, at least AK, but in some cases he may have tried with 22-99, AQ, or worse.

Second, if he does have a higher pocket pair, and you know him to be a rock, why exactly do you think a fold is inappropriate? What do you think are the odds to spike a 10 on the flop? Think he won't bet?

Third, you failed to include stack sizes, which is important.

Fourth, it is unlikely I'm making such a small bet on the flop.

Finally, if i had made such a small flop bet, I'm still betting big on the turn. If it's set over set, I'll say nh and move on. Folding will cost you more in the long run.

thanks for the replies guys.

first of all I made a small bet on the flop because I hoped that if he has something like AK or AQ he will interpret that as a probe bet and raise me.
but when he just called i figured him on a monster (ie QQ).
I agree he is not likely to hold KK as he would raise with that after the flop

second, after any bet on the flop even the smallest one I'm almost pot committed.

third, the stacks sizes are mentioned in the example below.

by the way, I checked on the turn he checked also. the river was 3 spade. I went all-in he called and showed QQ .

In his book "Harrington on holdem" harrington writes: "when your sets gets outflopped you're SUPPOSE to lose all your money".

You're going to be losing a lot of value playing sets so passively, especially with that flush draw out there ...BET!

Open fold and whine about bad beats.
