Party 15/30, 8-handed.

MP raises, button calls, I call with QJo. Is this a bad call?

Flop comes AT8r giving me a double gut shot.

Obviously I want to see the river. Do I check call and see if I hit my hand, or try and pick up the pot with a semi-bluff.

I decided I would check and if MP bet and button called, I would just check-call (which is what happened). If MP bet and button folded, I would check raise.

Same plan on the turn.

Thoughts?

Whether or not this is a bad call or how to proceed is a function of how tight/loose and passive/aggressive they are. Also which blind were you in?

I don't play 15/30. However, Out of position with good draws I like to check raise if there are two callers. You're about 2:1 against to make the hand making the raise mathematically ok. Plus you get the added deception if you hit your draw on the turn or river. Semi Bluffing the turn may make tight players fold after a check raise. But i don't play 15/30 [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]
