Default 2/4 to 15/30 in 75 days?

Inspired by the 2006 goals thread. I've got an ambitious goal here, and I'm curious if this is possible.

---

Background: about three months ago, I played 2/4, 8-tabling it, for a winrate of 2.85/100 over 86k hands. I was lured into casino whoring by the prospect of easy money, and while the money IS easy, I'm not cut out for it personally. So I'm looking to get back into poker with a vengence.

---

Plan: I'd like to get to the 15/30 game, which I'm barely bankrolled for (~15k), and I'd like to get there by March 15th. Obviously I'm going to be working against a skill deficit and against variance in my journey to 15/30.

Jan 1st to March 15th is about 75 days. I plan on stopping at 2/4, 3/6, 5/10, 10/20, and 15/30. That's 5 levels. 15 days per level. I'm going to try to play 7 days per week, though I may take Mondays off.

The blind structures will be changing, and blind stealing/defense will become increasingly important as I move up. Also, I should learn the rake structure of each limit and its effects on the game. I'll have to learn short-handed play, as it will become more prevalent as I move up.

I see that some of my numbers are off a little so these figures are approximate.

2/4: 4-table for 2 days then 8-table for the rest, 5 hours per day = 28k hands.

3/6: 4-table for 6 days, 6-table for 2 days, then 8-table for 7 days = 21k hands.

At a winrate of 2/100, if I run well I should make enough cash to basically cover my expenses all the way to March 15th (I live frugally) and to put a little padding in my roll.

5/10: 2-table for 2 days, 4-table for 5 days, 6-table for 4 days, 8-table for 3 days = 17.5k hands.

10/20 and 15/30 the same as 5/10.

---

This is only for 5 hours per day. I intend to use the rest of the time doing stuff like setting up autohotkey for using a Playstation controller for a mouse, playing a bit of 25nl as a nut peddler (12vpip,4pfr for my last 200 hands, I'm experimenting), playing single tables of the next limit, datamining, doing a little posting and a lot of reading, etc. etc. I might also find out that I have to stop at 4-tables when I get to the upper limits. I'm willing to accept that.

My questions are:

1) Is this possible?

2) Do you have any suggestions for poker-improvement activities in my off-time (about 3-4 hours per day)?

3) Do you guys have any suggestions for sleep, eating, or health during this time?

4) Any other suggestions??

Some more things:

All hands will be played on party, because that's where I'm most comfortable.

I'll be in the market for some datamined hands. When the time comes, I will solicit for them publicly unless a mod replies to this thread telling me not to. My PMs are full... so don't reply just yet, but by Jan 1st I should be able to receive again.

I hope you guys enjoy your holidays.

Take care,
Dave.

You mentioned playing 6-max, but I didn't see it in your plan. I would include some sessions that are just 6-max in the 3/6 and 5/10 range.

I think this is a cool idea and you should do posts to updates your progress.

Maybe once per limit or so, probably starting with the gap between 3/6 and 5/10.

I'm afraid that if I throw 6-max in there as a separate entity, it'll take longer than 75 days. I'm probably going to try to squeeze that into the 3-4 hours per day that I've got allotted for "misc poker stuff".

We'll see... if I spent a week doing ring theory and then a week doing half short theory and half short play, that wouldn't be too bad, I think.

Sound good, or do I absolutely require that I take whole days and devote them to solely 6-max? What are the 6-max games like on mondays, ooc?

the 3/6 and 5/10 6max games are better than their full counterparts pretty much always

I don't have much 6-max information because it scares the [censored] out of me, but I think it's necessary for playing the 10/20 and 15/30. I guess if you read MHUSH and SHUSHUHS and play a few sessions that would help, but it's going to be important to know when to push not-so-great hands and see showdowns with Ace or King high.

I wish you all the best. It will be challenging, but I do think it's possible. I think you should post updates on this. Feel free to post daily updates on yr progress here. I would like that very much.

Kick ass!
Greg

Sorry, no-can-do buddy. We can't allow this. Sharing HHs is against the T&Cs of pretty much all the sites as far as I know, so you doing this openly on 2p2 is pretty much verbotten as far as I know.

questions for the mid-high guys

wilco re: not requesting dbs, but that sucks.

This should be interesting... I'm going to be moving for jan 1st, so that will hopefully give me a little more incentive (as hopefully I'll have minimal distractions), but will be a little stressful probably.

I'm still committed to giving this a shot.
