i like your line even though it appears he has an ace, i dont think risking any more chips this early would be good... so i would just call the river

Fold to the river bet? No.

Played perfectly for me.

I wouldn't fold to that bet. That bet on the river could mean a lot of things but rarely does it mean "I have the nuts."

What a strange hand betting wise. Very confusing to me. He limps from UTG+1 with what? Mid pair? AT-AQ? Soooted weak A? KT+? Several possibilities for a J in his hand and his betting doesn't scream out a very strong A although it could be seen as having a weaker A. So I'd assume he has a weak soooted A or maybe/possibly a J and take the same line you did and play it safe.

Actually, now that I look at it again, he could very well be on a flush draw and represents the J with his river bet. I'm still only calling here tho.

Ah, the mystery is solved. So I was maybe fractionally correct in my read. Very very fractional if at all. Donk in more than one way. No wonder it went round and round in my head when I tried to "reasonably" put him on a hand based on the betting patterns. What an idiot.

Adding him to my buddy list now.
