Default Tipping observation

I was practicing for the Magoo-fest by playing some 4/8 at Canterbury last night and there was a man there who rarely tipped the dealers (I tipped when he didn't. I was in the 9 seat, and I just like banging the box with a chip ), but I saw him give a buck to the custodial guy who was sweeping and changing trash bags. I was drunk and throwing chips at the floor people, but I never thought to tip that dude. I learned something from that guy who I thought was a cheap bastard. I will now tip the custodial guy.

Maybe you should consider tipping the regulars too, since without them, there wouldn't be a game.

I tip the custodial guy every once in awhile, particularly when I'm winning (or when they used to have this really gorgeous European girl doing that job at Foxwoods)... I think it's a nice thing to do and they always seem to be pretty surprised by it. I hardly think it's expected but it's certainly appreciated.

Agreed. The guy had a look of total shock/elation on his face. I really think it made his day. It was cool to see.

when we were in new york and stupidly decided to go to foxwoods, which is the worst casino ever, we were chagrined to discover that the poker dealers share tips. So there really was no impetus to tip well or anything. So after awhile, klepton and i are sitting in a 20 game, and he decides to tip the cleaning lady, but only if she doesnt share her tips. She doesnt, and ended up a redbird wealthier.

VEGAS BITCHES!!!!

I tipped a toll booth attendant once, she was really confused about that.

About a year ago in Tunica Horseshoe, in the 10-25 PLO game. Two guys are arguing after a hand while the dealer is shuffling about who tokes better. Then one thows 2 black in the middle of the table, followed by the other guy throwing two blacks to the middle of the table. Then the first guy says "dealer, give that to the ported there". Porter didnt let a single dry bottle a beer, dirty napkin, empty glass, anything hit the floor or look a mess the rest of the nite!!

Funny thing. There's this little old man who cleans the poker room non-stop every day. He seriously kicks ass and does a fantastic job - there isn't a speck of dust or a scrap of paper anywhere. Just last night I mentioned to a coctail waitress that this guy is the shiznit and she told me that she tips him every night because he makes her job a little easier. I thought that was very cool of her.
