AQ - noob post
Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 2 folds, MP1 calls, 4 folds, SB completes, Hero raises, MP1 calls, SB folds. Flop: (5 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, MP1 calls. Turn: (3.50 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, MP1 raises, Hero calls. River: (7.50 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, MP1 bets, Hero folds. Final Pot: 8.50 BB Should I be folding the turn? This is just a simple math question right? I'm 6.5:1 to call the turn, and I'm 6.6:1 to improve, assuming my outs are clean. After the fact, this is starting to feel more like a turn fold. Thoughts? And, of course, any comments on my play in general. |

The ol' call the flop raise the turn with trips thing is so common that you have to discount your outs a bit here. Any discounting at all flips this to a fold, so that's probably what you should do, unless you know this guy to be really aggressive (or bluffy). |

Re: AQ - noob post
Yeah, this is a fold. You're right, you're getting the right odds to continue assuming your outs are clean. However, we can't assume this which is why the standard number of outs to give to each overcard is 1.5. Thus, you have approx. 3 outs and are not getting the correct odds to continue.

Re: AQ - noob post
You really shouldnt count those outs as full, although it would be hard not to considering he is MP1 and the only hand I could put him on with a 2 in it would be A2s and I doubt he'd cold call with that. He also may have 88 which means you are dead off the flop. Both are unlikely but there is a chance. The call the flop, raise the turn is so common in the micro limits.

The call the flop, raise the turn is so common in the micro limits. [/ QUOTE ] Common in that I'm dominated (or just behind). Which is also kinda standard in NL SNGs, IME. |

Re: AQ - noob post
Common that you are behind. Either trips or boat in this case. Other cases are flopped flushes and straights. They think that they will wait to raise for the full BB rather than the half.

Re: AQ - noob post
you should fold to the turn raise
if you call this turn you have to call the river, and you're not going to do this unless MP1 is an uber-donk |

Re: AQ - noob post
Would anyone consider checking the turn? The pot is relatively small and probably not much chance of inducing a stronger hand to fold. Too weak?
