you are juvenile for using gay in this context

I'm probably not helping this thread any, but I have to mention that Stewart Reuben calls minraises "gay raises" pervasively in his "How Good Is Your Pot Limit" books. So those books have contributed to the use of the word in this context. Plus Reuben probably got the term from somewhere (i.e., common usage) rather than inventing it out of thin air.

None of that makes "gay raise" acceptable and sensitive and politically correct, but it is the status quo.

I let my ticker run down to 5 then decided this is party, land of the idiot, and pushed. He made a heterosexual call with Q8 suited, didnt improve, and I take down a nice pot.

nh. seriously good rule of thumb, you put in a crapload of money preflop with AA, just close your eyes and click, hold, and scroll right.

If the table thinks you're really tilty, reraise more preflop, especially out of position. Maybe 90-100. From that point the hand plays itself.

I agree with whoever it was that said anytime you get in a good chunk (in this case almost 20%) of your stack preflop with AA you're in good shape. If you get outflopped so be it. You have outs.

You truly need to know your opponent very well to get away from it here. Considering that AK is statistically so much more likely than KK here and that at 400NL you'll still see some KQ,you can only reasonably lay this down to someone who you've seen play for 5k hands or more and KNOW what that minraise means.

You can have KK 3ways and AK 6 ways so AK is statistically twice as likelly as KK. Note that AK is equally likely as KK and QQ combined.

As an aside, I hear this statistic a lot. Keep in mind that math is relevant only when there is no observable difference between how an opponent plays those hands.
