Default NL500: 99 preflop to close the action

Live $300-500 NL
9 Handed
Blinds are $5/10

Stacks:
UTG: $770
Hero: $1700
MP3: $300

Reads:
UTG is tight, aggressive, and tricky. He had just won a couple of pots and was starting to "feel it" and be a bit too aggressive for his own good. I have played with him a lot and I know that he will pay off a set.

MP3 has been donating to the table. He's played almost every hand, raised preflop with garbage, and then bought the pot on a later street.

My table image is probably slightly loose (maybe 2 or 3 hands per orbit) and aggressive.

Action:
Hero is UTG+1 with 99

Preflop: UTG raises to $30, Hero calls, 2 folds, MP3 announces a raise ...

MP3 tosses in the $30 and then starts counting his chips. He says that he does not have enough chips to go all in, so he makes it $120 to go.

4 folds, UTG calls without hesitation, Hero ... ?

[/ QUOTE ] wtf does that mean?

This is basic odds man + a little read dependent.

90:270.. that's only 1:3.

You need at least 1:7.5.. Does UTG have a good hand? Will he pay you off readily if you hit your set? I'd probably lay it down here.

I have no idea. It was the first time that I had heard someone say that.

You're not going to make enough when you hit your set and I believe that your 99 is not the best hand.

Are you sure MP3 didn't say that he had too many chips to push? Or maybe that's what he MEANT to say? It sounds like you're in good shape against him, and if UTG is playing too loose, you're probably in good shape against him. After all, wouldn't he want to get all-in PF against MP3 if he had TT+? I think you should push here, MP3 calls with whatever, and if UTG calls he will be in trouble with something stupid like AQ.

Looks like a pretty easy fold. You don't have odds to call for the set.

I don't really know what this means.

You definitely don't have the implied odds I don't think... let this one go.
