I said "live," not "survive." There is a difference.

Re: How much do you value your life?
I would not do it for any money.. I don't think life can be for sale.. I'd rather live my life the way it is than to take the chance of dying right now. I don't believe any amount of money could make me happy and I've already got sufficient funds to buy all the nice little things I want.

Re: How much do you value your life?
We risk our lives everyday. Whether it be driving up the onramp of a freeway, flying, whatever... we're always at risk. Sometimes we take these risks for things that have little or no reward (to pick the kids up, visit a natural refuge, eat dinner, pick up drugs, whatever your deal is). We do this not to gamble, but because if we don't we really have nothing else to live for. Life is gamble that we all inevitably lose - yet we all try to make the best of it.
I would not gamble my life even for a billion. Odds are I would score the cash and never have to worry about money again - the only problem is for the rest of my life I would feel ashamed for taking the risk in the first place ... I suppose my life would lose its value afterwords, and no amount of money is worth that. |

Re: How much do you value your life?
I would grab the bin with me and go distributing the tickets to every poor people that live in ghetto. The one that dies would get the funeral of his life with rest of the money tickets.
I would gamble with two tickets in the bin. Ticket number one: instant death. Ticket number two: meaningful death |

Re: How much do you value your life?
This is pretty darn depressing. Some people here want millions and billions and there are times when I don't feel like I ought to fetch $1.50. I think I might have low self-esteem.
btw: I am new here. Do you post other "dark thoughts" posts? I'm looking forward to the next one. |

Re: How much do you value your life?
I would pick a ticket if....
I already had children AND I had insurance in case I died to make my family very comfortable for the rest of their lives AND I didn't know when I lost AND I was instantly disintegrated AND It was enough money to make me and my family very comfortable. Well then I would do it. Having a 1:100 chance of making my wife and family unhappy is not worth it unless there are millions involved and its painless. Also I know my luck. |

Re: How much do you value your life?
Abstractly speaking, and assuming no loopholes, I would risk a 1% chance of immediate death if I would otherwise receive enough money to retire peacefully the moment after I draw a non-"death" ticket.
<edit> Never mind. Paraphrased: Life is way more important than money, but given enough money you can spend significantly more time on life. |
