Default What percentage of your bankroll

What percentage of your bankroll will you spend on MTT in a day. IVe heard that at the max 10% is the most you should lose on your bankroll in a day. IS this the general rule or is there no rule?

So, if I have a bankroll of $2500 for MTT and I plan to play only $50 MTTs with less than 300 people what should be the max percentage of my Bank roll I lose in a day if I bust out of the money in all of them that day.

I dont think you are giving yourself the correct guidelines. It isn't about a day really. It is about each tournament itself, and your poker mentality. I think there is nothing wrong with taking a shot every once in a while. For that matter, I dont think I would be where I am now, if I never took a decent risk in some multi's, or even cash games where I knew I had a big edge.

I think if you are regularly playing a specific tournmanent, 100 buy ins would be good, if it is a very big tournament. The smaller it is, the less variance, and therefore less buy ins needed.

However, every once in a while if there is a good tournament that you want to play in, I think it's a good idea to take a shot every now and then up to 10% of your roll, (depending on what limits you play to build it though). Although that is pretty risky and it's up to you.

I am considering buying in direct to the main event of the empire state main event ($2000) this sunday. It about 7% of my bankroll right now. It will be a good live experience, and a lot of fun, so I may do it.

I dont mean using 10% of my bankroll for 1 tourny. For online MTTS I wanted to know what is the max percentage of my bankroll to spend in a day on all MTT enterd that day. I threw out 10% because thats what Ive read earlier but wanted opinions from this board. For instance if I have $2000 I shouldnt spend over $200 on all the MTT I enter that day? and the max buy in for each tournament shouldnt be over 40 if you take into account the 50 buyins rule? Or is this just to many guidelines

If your playing your best game and are a winning MTT player you shouldnt have to set a daily limit as every MTT you play should be theoretically profitable for you.

I would shoot myself in the left eye before setting rules like that.

I think a lot of us incorporate MTTs into our total poker package. If you're playing $30 SNGs, it makes sense that you are also playing $30 MTTs. That's how I used to look at it. Now I look at it as time investment - what is my hourly rate at a given buy-in vs. my hourly rate playing limit/SNGs/etc. I think both perspectives work.

Hope that helps.

Bankroll management isn't about what you can spend for a day, it's what you spend in each tournament/cashgame/sng.

You're supposed to have 200BB's to play in cash games, but if you lose 100 in a day you aren't supposed to just stop. (Though it wouldn't be the worst idea).

For MTT's there is a lot of variance, you should have atleast 100 buyins.. probably more like 200. But there aren't limits on how many tournaments you can play a day. Should just play within your bankroll.

Though i agree 'taking shots' every once in a while can be fine.

i can only play 3 days a week, and have a roll of $1,200 (which i built from 100 over the course of 6 months--- i know, nothing special)

i will quad table as many 20-30, 2-3 table tournies as i can, and any larger mtt $30 that is on the calendar. if i have already gotten through all my free porn sites and done my business, i might look for a $50 or $100 mtt to play depending on how i am running.

good luck.
