The board was 8-7-3-3-8. Before the action got to me both my opponents mucked.

So I won with deuce high against two opponents.

[/ QUOTE ]

Give yourself a little credit, you had 7 high.

You've got to show your hand after getting pushed the pot.

[/ QUOTE ]
Why do you have to show your hand if every other player, in this case, the other player, folds?

One time at the Mirage I witnessed a hand where the final board was 9 9 J J A. There were 4 players, the first one showed a King and the other 3 folded.

To be honest, if I was in that game and Mason flipped up 23 after I had mucked my hand I would be laughing my ass off had he done it in a non-judgmental way (which it sounds like he did). I play poker to win but I don't play the game so seriously that I can't laugh at my own dumb mistakes. I can guarantee you that a guy who can't sincerely laugh at his own mistakes also has a hard time admitting them.

Actually, I believe Mason can alternatively make a bet. Pot gets pushed because there is an unanswered bet. Silly, but an alternative so that you don't _have_ to show.

I also gave him his small blind back. So I think he felt pretty good about it.

You could have mucked your hand face down and made $80. Instead, you decided to make another player feel bad and only made $60. Somehow I don't see the wisdom here.

[/ QUOTE ]

How about......He gave the SB a semi-FREE lesson about never mucking his hand in a yet not bet pot?

Yes, Mason could've just taken the whole pot, but I think showing his 23 ALONG with giving the SB back his $20 was a cheap $20 lesson for the SB.

Thanks Custer:

You see I'm a little new to poker and didn't realize all the damage I was doing. Next time I'll be sure to keep the whole pot.

Best wishes,
Mason
