Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I'm sorry, but we have learned that the order is delayed because we are still waiting to receive the copies of the item "How Good Is Your Limit Hold 'em?" from the suppliers.

We always make sure that you get the book "Ace on the River: An Advanced Poker Guide" as soon as possible after the release date. As many of our customers are anxious to have this book, so sometimes there is a delay in receiving the copies soon.

Sometimes unexpected fluctuations in supply can add time to our original availability estimate. I apologize that you were not notified sooner of this change in availability.

So that your order will be processed soon, I've upgraded the shipping method to Standard Delivery at no additional charges to you. Now, I see that we expect to ship the items in your order by July 06 - July 13, 2005.

I've had such bad luck with amazon lately.

You arent the only one.

I got HOH the other day after ordering it on the 12th of April. I am expecting King Yao's book soon I ordered that just after release.

Sure I live in Australia but over 2 months for HOH is rediculous.

Amazon's estimates are often way off, especially in situations like this, where a book hasn't been released yet. I think the idea is to promise worst case delivery, assuming publisher delays, etc. I got upset a few times when I placed orders there and the delivery estimates were a month or two, but the books arrived in like 4 days. They do the same thing with shipping estimates - always like 9 days for ground/saver, even though UPS rarely takes more than 3 or 4.

I wouldn't worry about this book being hard to find. I was at the Gambler's Book Shop last week, and overheard that Greenstein/the publisher had 100,000 copies printed on the first run, which is apparently unheard of for something like this. (or maybe it was 200,000? I dunno, I just remember he was saying it was like 5 or 10x more than expected)

if i preorder his book thru Amazon [with 1 day Air-shipping] when the release date is June 30th, will i get it June 30th or 31st? does preordering mean it goes out earlier?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, if you preorder from Amazon, they preship your order before they get the books in stock.
