Default Omaha8 probability question

In omaha hi-low-8-or-better, if there is two low cards showing, what is the probability that it will hit by the river given these conditions:

a) you do not know any of the whole cards?
b) you have 0 low cards in your hand?
c) you have 1 non duplicating low card in your hand?
d) you have 2 non duplicating low cards in your hand?
e) you have 3 non duplicating low cards in your hand?
f) you have 4 non duplicating low cards in your hand?

Thanks in advance for doing my math for me.

You'll be more likely to get an answer posting this on the O/8 board.

You mean that the low will come on the river given two low cards already on the board?

There are 8 low cards in each suit with 4 suites, so 32 low cards in the deck. You've see 2 of them, so there are 30 left. However, you can't pair one of the existing low cards on board, so you have to remove those 6 from the pool of cards that help you. Therefore we subtract 6 cards to get 24 cards that will make a low.

a) Assumes you haven't got a hand.

<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>
52 total cards total
4 cards seen on board
6 cards won't help
42 cards unseen and possibly helpful.

24 will help.

42:24 = 1.75:1 against the low getting there on the river.
</pre><hr />

b) You hold 0 low cards.

<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>
52 total cards total
4 cards seen on board
4 cards in your hand
6 cards won't help
38 cards unseen and possibly helpful.

24 will help.

38:24 = 1.6:1 against the low getting there on the river.
</pre><hr />

The rest just progress from there. I think the math is correct, but I'm sure someone will correct if it's not.

Regards,

T

That was definitely my first thought. Then I said to myself, "hell, let's see if I can make a fool of myself."

Dang, I just realized I made a mistake. You also aren't going to be helped by the three cards that would counterfeit one in your hand when you only have two low cards, so subtract 3 more cards that help.

I guess that's why you would want to post this in the O/8 forum. They're pretty friendly there.

Most people on the O/8 boards are still beginners, and the ones that aren't will gladly help beginners (look for Buzz). As long as you don't come with a "I'm right, you're not" attitude, they'll be friendly.
