Deep 10-20 draw
history between me and villian is as follows. he has run as hot as I have ever seen someone run between us, cracked my KK with J 6, has hit a bunch of trips, straights etc. i saw him run 400 to 15000 yesterday so hes running hot. not a regular.
Anyway, onto the hand I (3500) raise Q 9 off from the CO. Button calls (he calls a lot in position) and SB and BB (villian who covers) come along for the ride. Flop: J 10 2... check check check, button bets 300. SB folds, Villian calls. I push. 950 or something in the pot. thoughts? am i being too results oriented considering i didnt hit my draw or am I a donk? |

Re: Deep 10-20 draw
Would you ever do this with anything but a draw?
That seems like too big an overbet to me with such a mediocre draw. |

Re: Deep 10-20 draw
Seems pretty standard. If you have any fold equity at all its a good play. It also gets you action when you have AA KK QQ JJ TT. Just play those hands the same way.

Re: Deep 10-20 draw
i think is push is terrible against the player described. players like this love to make huge calls, and I would expect a call from a strong J or better here.
why not just call the flop? |

Re: Deep 10-20 draw
I think you should bet the flop.

Re: Deep 10-20 draw
I don't love the open if the button is coming along too loosely since then we get to play Q9o out of position frequently. Yuck.
Beyond that I'd have led since if I did open with Q9o this is a pretty damn good flop for it. But after having checked I think call is far superior since your deep and the straight is tricky and he'll likely still pay off... People running hot generally pay off too much w/Top pair etc not fold often which makes this worse. I'd probably guess the fold equity isn't high here. |
