The Iceman Cometh
The Iceman Cometh is the most difficult movie I've ever watched.
The Iceman Cometh is four hours in length, but the entire movie takes place in two rooms. The Iceman Cometh is unremitting hopelessness and despair. The brief moments of levity and cheerfulness are disguises for vicious insecurity. The laughter of the characters is like the laughter of hyenas. The final scene is chilling. Every character is irredeemable. Ever character is caught in a tragic cycle and their only options are suicide and alcoholism. The Iceman Cometh was the most depressing film I've ever watched. Although it was highly effective, I recommend that you do not watch it. |

Gervin is the first thing I thought of when I saw the OP. His 'Iceman Cometh' poster was the coolest one back in the day.

Re: The Iceman Cometh
I remember seeing this film in the theater with my english class when I was about a sophomore in high school. I don't remember much about it now, except for it being very long, especially for me at that age.
I wish I still had the paper I wrote on it; I could see if my view way back then was anything like yours now. |
