Re: 2 similar Q10s hands
All I can say is that you seem to be overagressive when you have nothing and the pot is small. That's not good poker.

Re: 2 similar Q10s hands
raising the flop to see the river for free is highly opponent dependent. you will get 3bet a lot and/or donked on the turn.

Re: 2 similar Q10s hands
in hand 1, MP1 is getting 6-1 on his flop bet with just 2 other players in the pot. Those are pretty fantastic odds. I wasn't raising for a free card. Had the card helped me at all, I would have bet the turn. As it is, if anything, it helped my opponent. The flop raise was both a defensive maneauver and possibly (i thought) a value raise. Should I have, at least, called?
Hand 2 is nearly the exact same situation. I thought that my 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] was very likely good and I had 2 backdoors so I had at worst 6 outs and possibly 9 outs. If MP1 hadn't called my flop raise, I would have bet that turn expecting to take it down. Again, should I have, at least, called the flop. |

Re: 2 similar Q10s hands
I like the spirit of what you're trying to do here but I think you're picking the wrong boards to do it on. Having 2 overcards backdoor flush is decent and you usually could use the freecard, having 1 overcard backdoor flush and backdoor straight is not the same thing. This is expecially true on the first hand where your overcard outs are very tainted possible four flushes.

Re: 2 similar Q10s hands
1) is OK if the guy will donk-fold frequently with nothing. Otherwise, it's spewy. I would dig this play a lot more with ATs, as you actually have some showdown value.
2) This is bad, especially after limping. Just give it up on this one. The pot is small and you have two BD draws and one overcard. This is equivalent to about 4 outs. |
