Re: Results, Thoughts
I think check/folding the river is the worst option since checkraising the turn and checking almost any river card looks like a pure bluff.
But I really don't like being willing to put in 3 bets on the turn. |

I think you are more likely to get a better hand to check behind, than a worse hand to call your bet here. I guess alot depends on if they both called or just one, and what the river card was. |

Re: Terribly Played Hand
I like the check-call check-call bet line or the check call check raise on a non face turn line both equally. I think check-call wholeway is a bit noob because you minimize your value.
Having no reads sux at first I didn't like the turn c/r so much because it would put you in a confusing spot on the river - you lose extra against a big pair that can't fold and AK probably wont call the river... I think the river in the check-call check-call bet is a little easier (call a raise). I hope that sorta made sense? Folding sucks, and I hate being too aggro in these spots. -DrG |

I assume you know this and are really just saying that you don't like putting yourself in the position to have to call a turned 3bet. |

Re: Results, Thoughts
While it'd be great to fold out overcards, I think the likelyhood of BB having an overpair is so great that I'd rather get to showdown as cheaply as possible. The turn check-raise line almost ensures that we'll have to pay 3BB's to showdown our hand against a very likely overpair, whereas the c/c, c/c line only costs 2BB's.

Re: Terribly Played Hand
I play it the same. A BB 3 bet usually means AK or a big pair.
On the flop you have second pair in a 5way pot pretty unlikely to be best, you have a draw though and the pot is big. If an 8 comes on the turn you will take down a monster pot. By calling you also get to see if someone has a 9 in this case after no raise it looks good for you. On the turn the board pairs unlikely to help anyone BB could still have AK and MP could have an 8 or a flush draw. No reason not to call you could still be best you have maybe 4-6 outs. Raising doesnt achieve that much except costing you more when behind. Nice river another blank BB checks his AK possibly 88 and MP missed his draw/ or too passive to bet a 9. |

Re: Results, Thoughts
What do you think about betting the flop? As I said, if he has AK then hopefully he'll raise and you'll get HU while being ahead.

Re: Results, Thoughts
I usually lead this turn, but now see your idea for check-raise and it might be better(when the board is paired), it might induce an incorrect fold from overcards

Re: Terribly Played Hand
my current default is to lead the flop and pray one of the pfr's clears out the field.
