Default 10 dollar rebuy, folding an overpair

64 left in Prima 10+1 Rebuy I have ~35K and am in 10th place, get JJ in MP.

Blinds 500/1K

UTG limps, UTG+1 raises to 3K, I call, UTG calls 3 to the flop.

Flop is 10h 4d 8h (POT 10500)

UTG bets 5K, UTG+1 raises to 10K, I fold.

I thought this was pretty standard but am open to other opinions on flop and preflop play.

I'm surprised you haven't got any answers on this yet. I haven't replied because I'm torn...still thinking about it.

how many players cash? if you need to get to the top 2 or 3 to make money i would consider going all in if UTG+1 had a small stack. when UTG underbets the pot there is a good chance that UTG+1 is trying to steal or is semibluffing a fourflush in which case he will fold. but if he has a decent stack you made the right play.

Top 40 cash...but I'm only interested in final table money.

Both players had me covered. The mini-raise is what scared me off this hand...basically I have two areas I'd like opinions on..

Is calling the best play preflop?

Is folding the best play on the flop?

I have no real reads on these players and this IS a low buy in rebuy tourney...however I think that the second player showed a lot of strength on the flop..

What are your opponents stack sizes? This is pretty damn important.

I like the play. I don't think you need to get involved here with all this action, recognizing that sometimes you will be laying down the best hand.

Preflop it's a little dicey to flat call with so many people left to act, because I think you have to fold to any reraise. But it's less than 10% of your stack so I think it's OK.

The flop play here is a great example of the value of position, by the way. You got to make your decision with the benefit of a lot more information than you otherwise would have.

I think you have 2 choices pre-flop, smooth call or re-raise. When I re-raise with JJ It usually helps define the rest of the hand, but you have to be prepared to lay it down if he comes over the top.

The problem with calling is what happened to you. No one suspects your hand is so strong. UTG bets the pot, he probably has you beat, but wouldn't he play AT like this?

I guess in this case you play it like it was 22, you didn't flop a set so you fold, but I have a hard time folding an overpair.

Like I said in the follow-up, they both had me covered.

Fnurt,

Given the table dynamics I didn't think anyone else would come along behind me. I don't like folding in this spot and a raise could have been trouble. The benefit to a raise of course is that it helps me define my opponents hand, but at too great a cost in this instantce imo.
