Default High stakes Limit o8 hand from Negreanu\'s Blog (LC?)

As a fan of the game, I found this description of a live 300/600 hand interesting.

From his blog:
[ QUOTE ]

In a six-way Omaha H/L hand I was dealt Ah 10h Ks Qs. I raised coming in, it got re-raised, and finally capped for five bets.

The flop came: Js 8h 9s. Wow, what a flop for me. I flopped the nuts, with a king high flush draw, a bigger straight draw, and a back door flush draw.

To my surprise, four of us got four bets in on the flop too!

The turn card came the 5h! Wow, now I also had the nut heart draw along with my king high flush draw, nuts straight, and higher straight redraw. Oh and no, I'm NOT making this up!

A couple more bets went in on the turn, 4 to be exact! The river came the 7d and I wasn't happy about that card. It seemed as though I might get quartered since a back door low got there, and that's exactly what happened. I was up against:

As 3s 8c 9c (two pair and the nut spade draw)
Ac Qc 9d 10d (nuts straight, no re-draw)

I got a quarter of this monster pot which was pretty disappointing. Sure my spade draw was no good, but man, what a hand!

I hardly play 300/600, but can that raise PF be correct? The only explanation i see to support it is deception value.

All three hands really surprise me given the pf action, DN's maybe the least of them.

One must remember that this was a 6 handed game and not a full ring game. The starting hand requirements are much less. In addition, I feel that in a shorthanded game it is much more important to focus on making high hands and not low hands. Low hands are for backup in shorthanded games b/c you are headsup much more often.

Having the pot capped preflop seems a little over-the-top, but I can certainly understand some preflop raising occurring. All hands were double-suited, and this is a high-stakes game (other intangibles might have come into play).

Yes, in a shorthanded game the value of high hands goes up.

I just read this in Zee's book, so I guess I'll believe it. But I'm quite sure that Cappaletti said in his book that a high hand was almost always a dog against any random low hand. Maybe i'm wrong.

how in the world did that hand get capped preflop? im no omaha expert but that seems foolish to keep putting in raises expecially since on one person (A3) had a legit draw to a low
