Default Tipping Question

Chumash usually draws for $50 or $100 every half hour at night. I finally won $50 tonight. Usually winners tip the floorperson $5 or $10, is this common?

I won $50 and I didn't tip. Am I bad?

No you are not bad. If this were to happen to me I would tip 5 dollars or less. Luckily for me I have never won a random drawing in my life so I do not worry about it.

So basically, they have mini-lotteries for $50...yes?

In that case, then not tipping isn't unreasonable.

Nah. My roommate won the $50 drawing at Chumash once and didn't tip.

I hit the bad beat jackpot there once (I had QQQQ against AAAQQ) and tipped the dealer $25-$50 (don't remember exactly how much) out of the $750 I won. Everyone else at the table (who each got $113) chipped some in too. I guess it was karma, because shortly after that I move from $2/$4 to $2/$5 NL for the first time, and first hand, same dealer gives me...QQ

You are bad for starting a new tipping thread, but as to the actual incident in question: You don't need to tip when you win jackpots where the only condition is you being there in the first place. It's different than being at a poker table, where you're depending on the dealer to make the game run in the first place. If you're going to chip someone, though, chip the floor or cardroom manager. It's +EV for future trips to the pokerroom and often results in better seating, etc. And they remember your name, which always makes me happy.
