Default calling raises with aq

should we do it? It's been pretty standard for me to call an opening raise with this hand but I've been debating against it lately. Thoughts on why and why not?

If the guy is raising 16% of his hands, AQ is well ahead of his range. I come over the top.

Position is crucial too. I'm now folding AQ in the SB and BB to a raise in a multiway pot, because I'll be OOP and can't win a big pot. (if there's just one LP raiser, it's a different story). Obviously if a LAG/fish/caller open raises, I'll call or reraise with AQ (reraise for value + to isolate, though a bit risky if there are many live players behind).

6max or 10max?
6max I call most of the time. Position helps, as does stats.
