Wireless not working on laptop when I unplug

I just got a Dell Inspiron 6000 and when I unplug it (from AC), the internet stops working. The first time this happened, a NIC settings screen appeared and it said something to the effect : deactivate NIC when not connected to AC adapter. I unchecked this and checked the : Activate upon disconnection from AC adapter. I still do not get internet connection though.

Anyone help me on this?

No ideas, but Dell has a decent online chat support feature.
