When to lay down TPTK

Sometimes you make a read and don't stick to it, and find yourself losing bets. Is this a case where I need to trust the read and make the laydown, or do I need to stick it out?

In EP I raise with AKo. MP flat calls and the BB 3 bets. I call (I'm not a fan of 4 betting AKo multi way) and MP calls. I put MP on quit a wide range of hands and the BB JJ, QQ, KK or AA. Flop is AQx rainbow. BB checks (I infer this could be a slow play of QQ as a 3 bettor would tend to lead the flop or KK and he's planning to check call). I bet my TPTK and MP raises. My first instinct is that this is AQ, based on the action. A set or AJ would call, while AQ may feel more vunerable and wish to raise now. BB flat calls and I call. MP bets the blank turn and BB calls as well (now I'm fairly sure he's got KK).

Is this the right time to fold AK?

If you were MP with AK for example, wouldn't you play it the same as him?

I would call this one down, especially when BB isn't going to put in any raises.
