Why\'d they design Poker Superstars to be such a huge allin fest?
I really like the overall format a lot. But, each individual round sucks. I'd rather see poker's elite actually play some real poker rather than calculate if calling all in with Q8s is correct because of your stack size and huge blinds.

I agree, but it's still fun to watch. It's a structure you might see in a home game. Raise the blinds every 8-10 minutes.

I think the players probably prefer this. They are busy men/women. If they played a decent format with small blinds, this would take a long time. I am guessing they filmed this whole thing in a relatively short time period.

I disagree. I doubt the players enjoy this crapshoot format. You think that Barry greenstein enjoys having to flip a coin aginst chris moneymaker??? No. These guys want time to outplay each other and show that they are the best at the table.
I think the structure was an absolute disaster, designed to press the "all-in" factor, since that is what they think people want to see. I think this show is a mess and from the looks on the players faces, and a few comments here and there (I would love to see how many "this is the most rediculous F'in tournemnt..." were left on the cutroom floor.) that these players are frustrated and can only hope the finals will be better and more fun to watch. -$LL$ |

In an interview after one session Doyle said that he and the other players love the format.

I belive when they say "format" they are speaking of the points, and seperate tables and chances to move up,etc... not the "structure" as in blinds and antes...i could be wrong though

They have the current structure so matches will not last a long so studio/production costs are less.

They did have to go through 24 matches the first 3 days, the only real way to do that was to have a superfast structure. I'd assume as the tournament progressed, the structure was a little better. I'm sure Barry would give his opinions on the tournament.

Well, the prize money isn't very impressive for those guys, I'm sure. They're probably happy to have it not drag too long so they can get back to cleaning up at the high doller ring games :-)
