Default Avoiding Work

Work blocks the majority of poker related stuff, sites to play at web sites etc. I can access web sites by tunneling through an SSH session to my linux box at home and using a proxy there to access related websites.

Anyone have any experience using an SSH tunnel to play poker that would be willing to help me get it set up? All the backend stuff is set up, just need to know how to put the proper tunnels in place for like Empire, or Paradise.

PS: Yes, I do a great deal of work at work, it just tends to get slow sometimes

Is it worth risking losing your job?

Very bad idea. Employers don't like employees gambling on company time and/or equipment. Spend the time reading some poker literature, whether it be websites or books. Send yourself the previous evenings hand histories to review during your down times. Whatever you do, don't gamble on company time. They WILL find out and you WILL lose your job.

I just purchased a laptop to play poker during my lunch hour. However, I wouldn't dream of playing during company hours. Instead, I spend time surfing 2+2.

Play! If you are slick, you won't get snagged. Don't let your job dictate how you live your life. Lunch hour is for eating...

How old are you and where do you work where you're "slick" enough to play poker without anyone knowing?

You are naive if you think employers don't check up on their employees. Especially if they see connections to poker sites in their firewall records, or someone happens to catch site of you playing a game on the job.

I'll say it again, if you value your job, save poker for off hours.

I am in IT, so it is easier for me. That being said, don't be a pussy....there are definite ways around even the tightest security.

I wil say it again, don't let your day job interfere with your poker.

You could remote desktop into an XP box at home and access the poker sites that way. Are they allowing 3389 outbound?

Not sure how you would tell the Party Poker client to use the tunnel....

I've considered remote desktop. When I get some energy I'll investigate what ports and address need forwarding so I can channel it all through my encrypted ssh tunnel to my home machine. Safer that way. I already route everything else through it and it works well, just thought someone might know the settings offhand.

Thanks for the input all.
