Default Appealing to the lowest common denominator?

I just thought I would post link this to find out how much it is based on truth and if anyone could post a link that can show current IQ estimates by state as this comparison uses information from a book that may not be up to date, basically it shows a comparison betweens the average IQ in a state and who it voted for

http://chrisevans3d.com/files/iq.htm

I actually find these figures hard to believe because I think it must be impossible to have a state with an IQ of 85, I mean average is 100 and lower than 75 is classified as a mental retard, that means if IQ's follow the normal distribution woul will have more mental retards than people of average intilligence! This leads me to believe that these figures arnt entirely accurate but I do think there may be some correlation, can anyone point me to an accurate resource for findng out states average IQ, and also just to stir up some debate, what are all your oppinions on this?
