(a few thoughts- CO was passive, he could have a holding like AK here I think, button is unlikely to have flat called preflop with AA, A4, A8, and 44 are all in his range)

I bet, CO calls, Button Raises, I 3-Bet, CO Calls, Button Caps, we both call.

(now I'm starting to think, Button could play 99 like this on the flop, it's less likely than the hands mentioned earlier, but it and AA are starting to seem more possible, as he's slowed down to this much agression before)

well i think CO has to have an ace here, meaning that there is only one combo of AA left for button to have - and i don't buy that he capped the flop with 99.

would he not do this with A9/A8/44 or what?

It looks like he overplayed two pair or has an under set. AA and 99 is all that beats you, there are a ton more hands you beat that fit your read on him. 3bet and feel like you spewed if you lose, but you didn't.
