Default Hitting Birds

As far as i've seen birds manage to have this sixth sense of knowing exactly when the last second is for when they need to get out of the way before getting hit (will excluding flying into airplane engines cause those are moving at 100s of mph). However, dispite this freak ability, i managed to hit one with my car over the summer (the "i almost died" thread reminded me).

have more ppl hit birds and my sample size too small to make this generalization?
r there any other hard to hit animals?

I ran into a pigeon with my car a few months ago - it just bounced off the windshield.

I hit a bird once. Good thing I was wearing a ski mask or she might have pressed charges.

I've driven through a whole group of starlings before. I hit about 4-6 of them. Their 6th sense must not have been working. I looked in my rear view mirror and they were all dead in the middle of the road.

since ive hit one animal while driving (a deer) I'd say that
birds
dogs
cats
cows
horses
turtles
bears
camels
people
aliens
crabs
fish
antelope
tigers
hyenas
monkeys

pretty much everything else would be considered hard to hit based on your observations.

I hit a bunch of birds a while ago. There was a huge group of them out in the middle of the road and they weren't flying away as I approached them. There must have been food in the road or something. I hit the brakes to give them more time, and some of them left but there were still a lot out there. I had places to be and they looked small enough to where they wouldn't damage my car, so I had to keep on going. I crushed quite a few of them. Usually though I can't hit them if I try.

Strangely enough, birds get hit all the time by helicopters. I've never hit one but I hear about it a lot. I guess their 6th sense doesn't work so well in the air.

I watched a pigeon fly into a window once. I laughed my ass off for like 20 minutes.

I was driving once close to 60 mph when a bird swooped in front of my car and hit the grill directly. The bird basically exploded, and there was a bloody pulp of what used to be a bird on my windshield. It was bad looking at it from inside the car, and even worse scraping it off with a squeegi.

Incidentally, I also hit a goose square in the side from about 15 ft away with a skulled 3-iron. It made a solid thud. The goose took a [censored] and kept walking.

Randy Johnson hit a bird with a 90+ mph fastball in the middle of a game once. The bird pretty much went from bird to cloud of feathers instantly.
