Hey Mike.

The best two books to read that discuss starting hands and PLO in general are Omaha Hold Em Poker: The Action Game by Caffione and the PLO section in PL/NL caffione/rueben. Also, you might want to read the Omaha articles here and here.

As far as I hand converter I've actually been just submitting the hand at pokerhand.org. Then there is a "forum converter" option and though it says it doesn't work for anything but HE I've found it usually looks pretty good and I can just manually clean it up a little.

Converting PLO, from a link in the FAQ...

For the emailed versions of the HH's change the game name in the 2nd line from "Omaha Game Table" to "OmahaHiGameTable"

0/0 Omaha Game Table (PL) - Tue Aug 16 22:01:33 EDT 2005

0/0 OmahaHiGameTable (PL) - Tue Aug 16 22:01:33 EDT 2005

Not sure how to do it for the ones stored on the Hard Drive.

I would play it the same except I don't think the turn is a +EV play unless you have implied odds and you likely don't. I was trying to see if calling the turn is +EV maybe somebody could help me here.

You need a spade(9), A(2), K(2), or Q(3 because of him likely holding one). So you have 16 outs out of 41 remaining cards. So have 2:1 on a ~2.5:1 shot so the call is -EV unless he calls small river bet. Is that going the right way for my answer?

I bet the turn here 99% of the time. You have the straight blockers, a possible best hand, and plenty of outs to continue.

Mike,

The reason to bet the turn is the *combination* of having the blockers and maybe the best hand/draw. If you get raised, well then, you almost certainly don't have the best hand. SO it becomes a pure odds thing, which it's too late to figure out, but I suspect is a borderline pass.

Welcome to the plo forum, btw. I don't envy making the switch from limit holdem, if you havent played PLO much b4. And beware labelling players as bad until you've PTd them...I once labelled the three best player on Stars as complete fish.

OT, but who are you referring to? I can guess, but it'd be fun to see if I'm railbirding the right guys (mostly Rafael Amit and Darwinism).
