i .. don't agree. this is going to be bad for the better players. It's going to increase "bad" players EV. So where do they get this EV from? It comes from somewhere, and i dont thin kit's just a simple adjustment to get it back. The structure favors them.

How are you saying it helps bad players? Does it increase the luck factor somehow? If so, how?

If you felt that you were a bad player, like had a significant disadvantage vs the field. Would you rather play in a tournament that pays the top 10%? Or the top 20%?

Would it matter? I'll make the money more often but earn less with the 20% structure, and less often but earning more with 10%.

Forgive me if I am being difficult and/or retarded here, I'm just failing to see how the structure makes a difference.

I think the opposite view is that a good player won't finish in that 10-20% range often enough to offset the money lost when finishing in the top 10%.

absolutely it would matter, a better player is way more likely to turn a top 20% finish into a top 10% one, than a bad player is.

So these bad players stalling out in the 10-20% range is where the better players lose the money.

i think a bad players ITM% would go up much more than a good players % would from this change.

Because the longer you play, the more mistakes you will make if you are a donkey, combined with the fact that the field gets tougher as the tournament goes on.

Though, one positive could be that w/ more people getting money, the "fish" won't get discouraged as easily, so maybe it'll keep them playing tournaments longer. so MAYBE theres a long term +EV bonus. but meh.

I agree with what you are saying but the guy playing 1,2 buck tournies for fun is just happy to make the money.

As far as stalling around the bubble I don't that is really too bad. The pay ranges are pretty big at the start and don't start increasing until much after 9 tables remain.

The bigger question is how many people would be loving it if they paid 20% at the WSOP in 2006?
