Default $5+.50 at PokerRoom

They run these things all day long. It's got me kind of intrigued to try them out. What're they like in general? Does anybody in them know what they're doing?

[censored] play for the first hour, then a few decent players, I've played in about 8 and never cashed, mostly cause of beats. People will call all ins with 2 pair on a 3 flush board and then hit their full house on the river to beat you.

Some do, some don't. Early on, mostly don't. Play in the first few levels can be amazingly transparent, making it easy to either take advantage or get out of the way. Or it can be so utterly moronic you can't make any sense of it.

I took 1st in one a few weeks ago and have managed a few mid-low ITMs. Just making the money isn't much in these, though...$15 or $20 for three or four hours of play still feels like losing somehow.

If you play TAG early, you will come to a good double up opportunity, easily in your favor. IF you survive the donk call, then you can really LAG it up and bust out a few more. Once the field is reduced to about 1/3 of the starters, it starts behaving more like poker as the donks now tighten up trying to make the $$. Really LAG it up here, but trust your reads vs. tight pf raisers. Never, never try to "just make it" because that's all you will achieve. Busting out on the bubble isn't really worse than just cashing for $9 on a $5+.5 AND 3 hour investment!! Plus, the final table experience is very valuable, esp compared to a 10 person SnG as the $$ does become significant from about 8th on up.

Always remember, you can win the $5 entry back in 1 hand of 6 max 2/4!!

Well I doubled up early w/ AKd vs. A8 on an A-high flop.

But then I got knocked out with KK on a 226 board called by 35!
Oh well, I don't mind being that big a favorite

They are soft. No need to get fancy, just an abc tag approach works great.
