6 max or 10 max?
I've been analyzing my play on PokerTracker recently and I've noticed that most of the money I lose is on the blinds! Then I started thinking more about why this might be the case... then it dawned on me. I only play about 15-20% of the hands I see and with 6 max tables, I see the blinds more than if I were to sit at the 10 max table. I fold a lot of bad cards in the blind spots, and thus, lose money. It's such a simple thing and so stupid that I didn't realize sooner. So does anyone here play at the 6-max table and if so, why?

Re: 6 max or 10 max?
Hi.
No. I recommend doing a search on here for 6 Max Starting Hands to see where you are playing too tightly and not defending your blinds enough. That said, 6 Max and 10 Max are different animals, so you must be aware of the difference in dynamics and changing relative hand values (read: TPTK good more often, etc.) If highly aggressive action, quirky plays and high variance are a concern for you, maybe stick to 10 Max; lots of folks here like playing more hands and making more plays in SH situations... Re: 6 max or 10 max?
In a short-handed game, the blinds hold way more equity. Therefore you've got to be calling and raising with seemingly "mediocre" hands more often.
Ed Miller had an excellent article in the 2+2 magazine a few months ago, but I'll bet it's since expired. Adam |
