perfect hand sir. The chances of him checking his overpair on the river are approximately zero.

Eh, it's close, but I think he's got AK just enough to make me just bet it.

Edit: Reads would be nice on this one too, It's important to know if he'd also cap with AQ and KQ.

I agree with justin. the presence of AK, plus the fact that you don't want to put a ton of bets in against AQ or JJ makes me bet this. 88 or 77 are possibilities as well.

I think you generally get more bets by checkraising the flop. If he 3-bets you can either cap and lead the turn, cap and checkraise the turn, or call and checkraise the turn depending on your villain. Most specifically you get an extra SB this way out of scared pairs or A-high hands that just call down if you lead into them.

I'm not a fan of this river c/r as I think a big pair would have given you more action on the flop and turn.

Agreed. The river play was risky, imo. Given the action thus far, I'd say villain checks it through half the time.

Betting is the river is just as good. Actually, I think it's a better play for the following reason:

... Let's say you'r opponent holds something like AJ or KJs and he feels like he's just made his hand. You bet, he raises, you 3-bet ....

(FWIW, it's still good to make moves like this and mix up one's game - for metagame reasons).

I like the way you fast-played the flop.

If it wasn't for the chance he's raising for a free-card on a diamond draw, I also use the following line occassionally:

Bet the flop, He raises. I CALL. Then check-raise the turn.
